What Can You Do to Keep Your Car Free of Dents?

It might feel as if you can’t do much in the grand scheme of things to keep dents, scratches, and other types of damage off your car. Following some of these tips from Collision Correction & Customs can help more than you might realize.

Pay Attention When You’re in the Car

Whether you’re driving or preparing to get out of the car, it pays to really look around at what’s happening. As you’re driving, even a small fender bender can cause big damage. After you’ve parked, if you’re not paying attention to what’s happening, it’s way too easy to swing the door too wide and end up bumping into another car.

Watch Where You Park

How and where you park makes a huge difference in whether you’re going to be able to avoid dents or not. If you have a habit of parking close to other cars, that puts you at risk of body damage. Reducing that risk means parking a little farther away from other cars or choosing parking spaces that leave a little more room in between the cars in the lot.

Keep the Car Covered

Car covers can do so much to protect your car’s paint from all sorts of damage from hail to anything else that might cause a scratch or a dent. A cover is even more important if you’re not able to keep the car in a garage. You might find it inconvenient to use your car cover for quick errands or daily use away from home, which is why having other techniques to rely on can help.

Don’t Set Anything on the Car

Something else to remember is that you should never put anything directly on your car. Even items that feel light to you when you hold them can cause scratches and may even cause dents. If you can make it a habit that you just don’t put anything on your car at all, that’s going to be the most helpful approach in the long run.

Already have some dents that you want to get fixed? It’s important to make sure that you address any paint and body damage as quickly as possible to avoid rust formation.
